Waiting on Wednesday (7)

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine =)

This Wednesday- well, since I read Wither at the beginning of summer break, actually, I’ve been SO looking forward to Fever by Lauren DeStephano, and would you believe that it’s not releasing until February 21st, 2012? That’s like a bazillion years away *sobs*

Summary (goodreads):

Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.

Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago – surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous – and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion…by any means necessary.

In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price – now that she has more to lose than ever.

Dude, that cover is NOT pretty. The cover for Wither was so awesome, and then… this? The model looks like a very stoned Avril Lavigne. No offense to the peeps who like the cover, though =)

  1. I would agree the cover isn't nearly as great as Wither was. I'm on the fence about reading this one – I enjoyed Wither, but wow was it so depressing! I want light at the end of the dark tunnels!

  4. LOL @ the model-looking-like-stoned-avril comment. i kind of agree, even though i don't dislike this cover, really. i mean, nowhere near as good as Wither, but still. and i am looking forward to the book, though wither didn't completely win me over, TBR (all those world-building plot-holes!)

  5. true, the world-building was a bit shaky, but I loved the writing- but hey, we bookworms don't go so far as to spurn a book for its cover, right? =)
